[Video] Wale talks album, leak and Nigeria

It happens to everyone. An album leaking should be expected. I can’t even remember the last record that dropped that didn’t leak at least a week in advance. This should be anticipated and worked into every artists plan by now. Technology has advanced beyond any method of stopping leaks. That’s probably the biggest problem in the music industry.

noceilings_cover2

Wow, first Mike Posner’s jumps early, and now Lil Wayne. Don’t ask questions. Just take it. There’s no real track list yet but I’ve named the freestyles myself. All (most, anyway) beats should be familiar to you. The real tape drops on Oct. 31 so artwork and track list expected. I’ll update as they come available. You definitely want to download this now though.

11.1.09 Update: Four new songs added. Continue for track list and link.

Jamie Foxx exposes plies

You would think a that a guy who calls himself a goon, talks about his gun being off safety, and rebelling against his probation officer would be Tupac in the flesh, but Algernod Lanier “Plies” Washington is no such individual.

He talks about being the realest, with an album called “Definition of Real” where he’s wearing a ski mask on his face on the cover art, but he’s probably faker than a three-dollar bill. I’ve thought about his character for a while but really solidified after hearing Jamie Foxx.

From what I understand, Plies was in nursing school and started claiming goonery after his goon-cousin went to jail for real goon activity (correct me if I’m wrong). So, the way I see it, you are not a tough guy. When he speaks, his diction sounds like he’s college-educated. The actual tone of his voice changes two. He’s like two people. Plies, the goon, and Algernod the regular human being. Read the rest of this entry »

Jay-Z and Alicia Keys to perform at MLB World Series, Game 1

It’s official. One of the biggest New York tribute-records will be performed on one of sports’ biggest stage in honor of sports’ biggest teams. Jay and Alicia Keys will perform during the first game of the World Series, as the Yanks take on the Phillies for the parade championship.

This will be monumental. The Yankees in the World Series is never unexpected but for a performance by a hip-hop artist in the first game is.

“Wasted (Freestyle)”

Here are two leaks off Wayne’s upcoming mixtape, “No Ceilings.” And, in other Wayne-news, he plead guilty of a 2007 felony weapons possesions charge in a Manhattan courtroom today. Word is that he faces a year in jail due to a plea deal. That’s going to be an event within itself. He will be sentenced Feb. 2010.
