Well, this isn’t really anything I gave much thought, but it’s a few of the latest joints that hit this week and some randoms I threw in because I noticed them. If you need something to ride to or listen to as you tan on a beach somewhere, this may be for you.

#DearDad is pretty #Depressing

I touched #DearDad with blissful ignorance thinking that I’d see some nice things for Father’s Day. Maybe something like, “#DearDad thanks for the new car after graduation,” would be appropriate on the eve of dad’s day but that’s not what I found.

I know my dad didn’t buy me a car for graduation, and yours probably didn’t either, but words of praise are expected. In reality it was majority opposite. People hate dads. Even Fake-Jesus went in. Moms do wrong, too, right? I didn’t see any of this type of bashings on Mother’s Day.

I’m not a father and I don’t harbor hate for mine but do we need to publicly call them out for their short-comings? I won’t psychoanalyze but I find it interesting.

‘I Have a Dream’

I remember walking by a group of old White veterans in a restaurant a year ago and they were speaking about Martin Luther King Day. Their conversation was ignorant but the one thing I remember one of them saying was, “I have a dream! Shit, do I get a holiday now?”

I turned my head slowly and gave that man a petrifying stare. It was one of those stares that bare your soul mixed with the malice of an Ice Cube ice-grill. We caught eye contact and his face turned red as I walked over to him. My friend told me to chill. My gaze continued as my friend lightly pulled me back by my sleeve.

Once a year probably isn’t enough times to watch this but, if I can help continue King’s message, I will. After that experience, and learning even more about the Civil Rights Movement, I fully understand how remarkable what King and other freedom fighters did during these times. So, whatever color you are, take a few minutes out of your day to see why this man has a national holiday.
